Modernization Without Interrupting Operations: ASFINAG’s Plabutsch Control Center Successfully Renovated

Traffic safety never takes a break. Around the clock, employees at ASFINAG’s control centers monitor traffic conditions, thereby making a vital contribution to ensuring safe and as smooth as possible traffic flow on Austria’s highways.

A particular challenge arises when such a control center needs to be modernized—and while it remains in operation. It was precisely this demanding task that PKE Verkehrstechnik GmbH was entrusted with during the complete renovation of the ASFINAG Plabutsch Control Center.

Throughout the entire project, it was essential to ensure that operations could continue without restriction and that traffic safety was not compromised at any time. Precise planning, close coordination among all parties involved, and a coordinated execution of the individual work steps were therefore crucial.

Thanks to the high level of technical expertise among all project participants, communication on an equal footing, and our many years of experience, the complete renovation was successfully carried out while operations continued—without compromising operational or traffic safety.
